Public Service Commission Shortlists 10 Candidates for Registrar of Political Parties Role
The Public Service Commission (PSC) has released the names of 10 individuals shortlisted for the position of Registrar of Political Parties, as the recruitment process for this key constitutional role enters its final stages.
According to a notice issued by PSC, the interviews will be conducted on Monday, August 11, 2025, at the Commission’s offices along Harambee Avenue in Nairobi. Sessions are scheduled to run between 8:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.
Among the shortlisted candidates is Ali Abdullah Surrar, the current acting Registrar of Political Parties (RPP). Other contenders include Sophia Sitati, who recently took over in an acting capacity following Ann Nderitu’s appointment to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC). Sitati was seconded from the Office of the Attorney General, where she served as Chief State Counsel.

In addition, PSC has also shortlisted 10 candidates for the Assistant Registrar of Political Parties role. They include:

Robert Borter
Gilbert Opanga
Candidates have been asked to report at least 20 minutes before their allocated time slots and are required to bring their original identification documents, academic and professional certificates, testimonials, and clearance certificates from government institutions such as:
Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA)
Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC)
Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI)
Applicants with foreign academic qualifications must present recognition letters from the Commission for University Education.
PSC has also invited members of the public to submit credible information regarding any of the shortlisted candidates. Submissions must be made by Friday, August 8, 2025, either via email or directly to the Commission’s office in Nairobi.
This recruitment process comes as the country gears up for political transitions and the strengthening of electoral institutions.
