Energy Cabinet Secretary Opiyo Wandayi has dismissed critics of the broad-based government arrangement, branding them “noise makers” who were not involved in the negotiations that brought ODM into President William Ruto’s administration.
Speaking during interdenominational prayers at his Ugunja home, Wandayi said only a small team, including himself and Siaya Senator Dr Oburu Odinga, took part in the talks that culminated in the coalition agreement.
He defended ODM leader Raila Odinga’s decision, praising him as a seasoned negotiator who secured six Cabinet positions and several Principal Secretary slots despite ODM not supporting the government at the ballot.
Wandayi said the positions were fairly distributed across regions, reinforcing inclusivity.
He added that ODM is open to structured coalition talks with UDA ahead of the 2027 elections, noting that negotiations must be guided by compromise and realism.
