Four More Arrested in Kikuyu NG-CDF Office Arson Case, Electronics and Speaker Recovered

Four more suspects have been arrested in connection with the arson attack on the Kikuyu Constituency Development Fund (CDF) offices during the recent Finance Bill protests. The arrests add to two others who were previously charged on July 3rd, 2024.

Those arrested this week include Samuel Muiri Ruiyi, a 28-year-old driver at a primary school in Nderi. A 32-inch television believed to be stolen from the CDF offices was recovered from his house. He then led officers to his accomplice, 23-year-old Samuel Wanjohi, who was also found with another television suspected to be from the NG-CDF offices.

A 16-year-old form three student from a Kabete school was also arrested after CCTV footage captured him leaving the scene with a Bluetooth speaker. The speaker was recovered from his possession.

In another part of the operation, Paul Kuria Njenga, 23, was arrested in Rironi, Limuru, for allegedly stealing equipment from the NG-CDF offices and selling it to unsuspecting buyers in Kitengela.

All four suspects are expected to be arraigned at the Kiambu Law Courts.

This brings the total number of suspects linked to the arson attack to six. Naftaly Njama and Joseph Waweru were previously charged with starting the fire that destroyed the NG-CDF offices valued at Sh20 million.

They also face charges of damaging a vehicle worth Sh2.5 million and vandalizing the deputy county commissioner’s office, causing an estimated Sh600,000 in damages.
