Three Men Abducted in Kitengela Found Alive in Tigoni and Gachie

Three men who were kidnapped in Kitengela last month have been found safe. The victims, identified as brothers Jamil Longton, 42, and Aslam Longton, 36, along with activist Bob Njagi, were discovered early Friday morning, bringing relief to their families and the community.

The men were reported missing on August 19 after being forcibly taken by individuals posing as police officers. The Longton brothers were abducted near their home in Kitengela, while Njagi was taken from a public service vehicle in Mlolongo.

Law Society of Kenya President Faith Odhiambo announced the men’s discovery. Jamil and Aslam Longton were found in Gachie, while Bob Njagi was located in Tigoni. The men were reportedly dumped in these areas by their captors and managed to find help to contact their families.

The abductions had heightened tensions between the Judiciary and the police, particularly after Justice Lawrence Mugambi sentenced Deputy Inspector General of Police Gilbert Masengeli to six months in prison for contempt of court. Masengeli had failed to appear in court multiple times to explain the men’s whereabouts.

Newly appointed Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja has denied that the men were in police custody and stated that investigations are ongoing. “You are aware that I have just taken office, but I have been informed that we do not have the Kitengela three in custody. A report was made, and the investigation remains active,” Kanja told the press.

The three men are currently undergoing medical check-ups before reuniting with their families.
