Kiambu County Needy Students to Receive Ksh 100 Million in Bursaries

Kiambu County Governor Wamatangi has announced the issuance of forms to facilitate the disbursement of Ksh 100 million in bursary funds.

This initiative is part of the annual Ksh 500 million allocated by the County Government of Kiambu to its scholarship programme.

Governor Wamatangi highlighted the substantial increase in the bursary fund since his administration took office. “Today, we have issued forms to facilitate disbursement of Sh100 million bursary funds, which is part of the annual Sh500 million the County Government of Kiambu has allocated to our scholarship programme,” he stated.

The bursary programme aims to assist needy students, with successful applicants expected to receive between Ksh 5,000 and Ksh 10,000 each. This financial aid is crucial for many families struggling to meet educational expenses.

Governor Wamatangi also emphasized the progress made since the advent of devolution. Previous administrations disbursed only Ksh 100 million per year.

However, upon taking office, his administration increased the bursary kitty to Ksh 300 million and later to Ksh 500 million.

Looking ahead, the governor revealed ambitious plans to further enhance the bursary fund. “We plan to enhance its annual bursary kitty to Ksh 750 million to increase the number of beneficiaries,” he announced.
