Detectives have launched investigations into the death of a police officer who was found dead on a bench in a bar in Kikuyu Town, Kiambu County.
The officer, identified as Corporal Julius Kaimenyi of the Tourist Police Unit (TPU), Nairobi Sector – Nairobi Division, was discovered unresponsive on Tuesday morning.
Witnesses reported that Kaimenyi had been dancing at the bar but did not consume any drinks. At some point, he began vomiting, prompting the bar manager to instruct staff to lay him down on a bench.
Other patrons left the establishment later that night, leaving the officer asleep on the bench. It was not until the following morning that he was found unresponsive.
Police officers who visited the scene confirmed that Kaimenyi had vomited on his clothes. The body was transferred to the mortuary for an autopsy as investigations continue.
Detectives are working to determine the cause of death, including whether the officer consumed any food or drinks at the bar. Witnesses and bar staff have been questioned as part of the ongoing inquiry
