United States President Donald Trump has nominated veteran diplomat Henry Wooster to serve as the next U.S. Ambassador to Kenya, a move that could see a new American envoy take charge of one of Washington’s key diplomatic missions in Africa.
The nomination, announced on Tuesday, June 2, has been formally submitted to the U.S. Senate for vetting and confirmation. If approved, Wooster will assume the position in Nairobi and become the principal representative of the United States government in Kenya.
According to information released by the White House, Wooster is a Career Member of the Senior Foreign Service and holds the rank of Minister-Counsellor, one of the highest positions within the American diplomatic service.
His nomination forms part of a broader list of diplomatic appointments made by the Trump administration as it seeks to fill key ambassadorial positions across different regions.
