Kenya Kwanza Tears Into Uhuru Over ‘Youth Revolution’ Call

Kenya Kwanza leaders launched a devastating attack on former President Uhuru Kenyatta, accusing him of hypocrisy and incitement after he urged African youth to rise up and fight for their countries.

Kenyatta made the controversial remarks at the Second Annual Guild Leaders’ Summit 2025 in Kampala, Uganda, where he likened the youth to modern-day freedom fighters. His comments triggered immediate political backlash.

Speaking in an interdenominational fundraiser in Malava Constituency, Kakamega County, Kenya Kwanza leaders blamed Kenyatta for challenges facing President Ruto’s administration. They warned him to stay out of local politics.

National Assembly Majority Whip Sylvanus Osoro slammed Kenyatta for neglecting the youth during his presidency. He said Kenyatta oversaw the rapid growth of betting companies instead of creating real opportunities.
“The same man who presided over the rise of over 200 betting companies now wants to lecture us about the youth,” Osoro said.

Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa echoed Osoro’s criticism. He accused Kenyatta of sidelining young people by appointing elderly leaders to key positions.
“Kenyatta made 91-year-old Moody Awori the Sports Fund chairman. Now he claims to support the youth? That’s hypocrisy,” Barasa said.

Lurambi MP Titus Khamala told Kenyatta to respect his retirement and let the current administration lead.
“Whether you’re a former MD or a former president—once you retire, step aside and let those in office work,” he said.

Kenya Kwanza leaders also defended President William Ruto’s recent trip to China, brushing off critics who questioned its value. National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah praised Ruto’s leadership and shared optimism about the future.
“If we stay organized, Ruto will finish his term, win another, and then Weta and Musalia will be ready. Things are on track,” Ichung’wah said.

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen accused Kenyatta of using the youth for political gain. He urged leaders to avoid weaponizing young people and instead address their concerns responsibly.
