Moi’s recent BuildCon and Wood Expo at Sarit Expo Centre offered Kiambu-based entrepreneurs a powerful platform to expand their businesses and connect with global investors. The three-day event focused on construction, renewable energy, and sustainable manufacturing. It drew local innovators, government officials, and investors from India and beyond.
Deputy Governor Rosemary Njeri Kirika led Kiambu’s presence at the expo, showcasing the county’s well-laid industrial zones, solid road networks, clean energy projects, and skilled youth workforce. She invited foreign firms to explore sustainable investments in the region. Entrepreneurs presented eco-friendly building materials, solar-powered gadgets, and handcrafted timber products. Their innovative offerings generated interest from investors and government officials alike.
Cabinet Secretary Wycliffe Oparanya officially opened the expo and tied it to the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda. He encouraged collaborations that can create jobs, transfer technology, and enhance Kenya’s manufacturing sector. Guest exhibitors attended business matchmaking sessions, aiming to forge cross-border partnerships that include showroom launches, light manufacturing operations, and data centres in Kiambu.
Principal Secretary for Trade and Industry Juma Mukhwana encouraged participants to turn their event exposure into long-term investments. He pointed to Kenya’s national goal of delivering 200,000 affordable homes this year, suggesting that local production hubs could accelerate that effort while boosting employment.
The expo underscored Kiambu’s potential as a future manufacturing hub. Exhibitors also enjoyed support through duty-free import incentives and improved access to financing. Many entrepreneurs cited these programmes as essential in launching their ventures.
As the event wrapped up, business leads emerged, and high-level talks commenced. Organisers plan follow-up activities that include trade missions, capacity-building clinics, and infrastructure improvements to sustain the momentum.
