Kiambu Senator Raises Alarm Over Alleged Corruption Under Governor Wamatangi’s leadership

In a startling revelation, Senator Karungo Thang’wa has sounded the alarm over what he describes as “massive corruption and looting” allegedly orchestrated under the leadership of Governor Kimani Wamatangi. Senator Thang’wa has raised serious concerns regarding various malpractices within the county administration and is urging the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) to intervene promptly.

One of Senator Thang’wa’s major concerns centers on the county government’s recent decision to revert to a manual payroll system, allegedly due to technical issues. He claims this has enabled the diversion of public funds, with suspected ghost workers fraudulently receiving over Ksh 390 million.

The Senator further alleges that a network of 15 county officials has pocketed over Ksh 500 million through questionable cash advances. He also accuses over 200 unlawfully contracted liaison officers of illegally collecting revenue, further deepening the financial mismanagement.

Senator Thang’wa refutes Governor Wamatangi’s assertions of having settled all pending bills. An independent report by the Controller of Budget, he claims, indicates that only 4% of the Ksh 5.62 billion debt has been cleared. This raises serious questions about the Governor’s commitment to financial accountability.

In response to these allegations, Senator Thang’wa demands the EACC launch a thorough investigation. He emphasizes the need to stop the misuse of public resources and hold those responsible to account.
