The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced a two-month closure of a section of the Bomas–Kiserian (B19) Road to allow for major construction works.
In a public notice issued by Acting Director-General Luka Kimeli, KeNHA said the closure will run from Thursday, August 28, 2025, to Monday, October 20, 2025.
The affected section stretches between Brookhouse/Galleria and the Catholic University of Eastern Africa junction, where two box culverts are set to be constructed. During this period, motorists will not be able to access the road.
To ease movement, KeNHA has provided two alternative routes. Drivers can either use Langata Road – Langata South Road – Kiboko Road – Banda Lane – Magadi Road, or Langata Road – Langata South Road – Kiboko Road – Mukoma Road – Magadi Road near Shell Petrol Station.
The authority has urged motorists to cooperate with police officers and traffic marshals and to adhere to diversion signs put in place to guide road users.
This closure comes just days after KeNHA also shut down the busy Rironi/Kamandura interchange, affecting traffic along Waiyaki Way, Limuru Road, and Mai Mahiu Road. The interchange, which will remain closed until October 31, 2025, is undergoing reconstruction that includes slip roads, loops, and approach lanes.
KeNHA says the projects are part of its continued efforts to improve the country’s road infrastructure despite the temporary inconveniences caused to motorists.
