Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has urged development partners to align their financial support with the government’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA) to accelerate the implementation of priority projects.
Speaking on Thursday during the 13th Development Partnership Forum (DPF) at his official residence in Karen, Nairobi, Prof. Kindiki said aligning existing and future programs to government priorities will boost collaboration and ensure faster delivery of services.
“We are requesting our development partners to align existing and future program with priorities of the Kenya government, especially the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda spearheaded by this administration and the Kenya Vision 2030,” the Deputy President said.
He credited the country’s socio-economic gains to cooperation with development partners, pointing to flagship projects such as the Isiolo-Mandera infrastructure project and the National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement (NYOTA) program.
“We do not take for granted that with the collaboration with development partners, the Government of Kenya has made impressive achievements in terms of socio-economic development as well as the management of our environment and natural resources,” he added.
The DPF is co-chaired by Prof. Kindiki, German Ambassador to Kenya Sebastian Groth, and United Nations Resident Coordinator Stephen Jackson. The forum tracks progress on joint program and seeks to strengthen coordination among partners.
Prof. Kindiki noted that key issues persist, including delays in fund disbursement, counterpart funding challenges, and uncoordinated off-budget support. He warned that a lack of centralized oversight creates risks such as double allocation of resources, poor planning, and accountability gaps.
“The absence of clear, predictable counterpart funding requirements embedded within financing agreements continues to pose a serious impediment to project implementation,” he observed.
The meeting brought together Cabinet Secretaries, members of constitutional commissions, and senior representatives of Kenya’s development partners.
