Kiambu Town MP Launches Lifelong NHIF Scheme for Senior Citizens and PWDs

In a bold move towards ensuring the welfare of the elderly and differently-abled members of society, Kiambu Town MP Machua Waithaka has spearheaded the launch of a groundbreaking healthcare initiative. Recognizing the invaluable contribution of senior citizens to the nation and the need for inclusive healthcare.

Speaking passionately about the initiative, Machua underscored the significance of embracing and assisting senior citizens and people with disabilities, stating, “Our senior citizens are the pillars of this nation and should not be neglected during their sunset years when they need the society most.”

The initiative involves the establishment of an NHIF scheme tailored specifically for over 500 senior citizens and persons with disabilities in the constituency. Through collaboration with the National Government Constituency Development Fund (NGCDF), Machua aims to expand the coverage of this scheme annually, ensuring its reach extends to more beneficiaries.

Under the scheme, Machua pledges to cover the NHIF contributions for these individuals for the entirety of their lives, easing the financial burden associated with healthcare expenses.

The implementation of this NHIF scheme is poised to revolutionize access to healthcare services for the elderly and differently-abled residents of the constituency. By eliminating the financial barriers to healthcare, the initiative seeks to guarantee that senior citizens and PWDs can avail themselves of essential medical services without undue financial strain.

The announcement of the Machua Healthcare Initiative has been met with widespread acclaim from members of the community, who commend the MP’s dedication to prioritizing the needs of vulnerable groups.
