Kiambu’s M-PESA Foundation and Kiwanja Queens Set for Safaricom Chapa Dimba Regional Finals

Kiambu’s football talents take center stage this weekend as the last regional finals for the Safaricom Chapa Dimba fourth edition head to Kirinyaga County’s Wanguru Stadium. Both M-PESA Foundation (boys) and Kiwanja Queens (girls) will represent Kiambu in their respective categories, vying for a chance to progress to the national finals set for April in Kisumu.

Eight teams, four boys’ and four girls’, will battle it out for the regional crown. Kiwanja Queens face off against St. Joseph Sec from Murang’a in the girls’ category, while M-PESA Foundation takes on Kiaga Secondary from Kirinyaga in the boys’ category. The full schedule features defending champions Barcelona Ladies FC and host team Kartzville FC kicking off the action on Saturday.

The stakes are high! Winners from each semi-final will play for the ultimate prize on Sunday. Victory secures KES. 250,000, a slot at the national finals in Kisumu next month, and brand new Neon smartphones for each player. Individual accolades like Best Goalkeeper, Top Scorer, and Most Valuable Player (boys and girls) come with a KES. 30,000 reward.

This regional showdown marks the culmination of the Safaricom Chapa Dimba tournament’s fourth edition. The Central region alone saw participation from a staggering 325 teams across six counties, with Kiambu contributing its share of talent.

But Chapa Dimba goes beyond competition. It provides a platform for coaches and scouts to identify rising stars, while also training coaches and nurturing young footballers aged 16-20.
