CS Murkomen warns of arrests over bribery in upcoming police recruitment, orders strict transparency nationwide

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has issued a stern warning against bribery ahead of the national police recruitment exercise scheduled for November 17, 2025.

Speaking during a church service at A.G.C. Kaboson in Bomet County, Murkomen cautioned that anyone caught offering or accepting bribes during the recruitment process will face immediate arrest and prosecution.

“We demand transparency and accountability. Those who carry money to bribe during recruitment will be arrested,” he said, urging citizens to record and report any incidents of corruption using their phones.

Murkomen challenged Kenyans to take an active role in ensuring the integrity of the process, questioning why people are quick to film politicians but fail to expose corruption during public exercises.

He further directed officers in charge of recruitment to ensure that the exercise concludes strictly by 5pm in all centres and that the list of successful candidates is announced the same day to promote openness.

Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja confirmed that the recruitment will take place across all sub-counties, noting that applicants must be Kenyan citizens aged between 18 and 28 years, possess a KCSE mean grade of D+, and have at least a D+ in English or Kiswahili.

Candidates are required to report to their designated centres by 8am with original academic certificates, IDs, and other relevant documents.

Murkomen assured Kenyans that the exercise will be transparent, merit-based, and free from political or financial influence.
