The ongoing facelift of Thika Stadium is taking shape, with major components of the project now nearing completion.
A team from the Department of Youth, Sports and Communication, accompanied by Kiambu County’s Public Works officers led by CECM Ali Osman, conducted a site inspection to assess progress, review pending works, and address emerging challenges.
So far, the contractor has completed the construction of a standard basketball court and drilled a borehole to serve the facility. The team confirmed that work has now shifted to building a standard-sized swimming pool, modern changing rooms, and stalls for small-scale traders around the stadium.
According to officials, the project is progressing steadily and remains on schedule for completion within the set timelines, marking a major step in the county’s commitment to modernizing sports infrastructure and supporting youth talent development.
