The Senate Health Committee, chaired by Senator Jackson Mandago, on Monday toured three major health facilities in Kiambu County to assess the state of healthcare services.
The team visited Kiambu Level 5 Hospital, Karuri Level 4 Hospital, and Ruaka Level 3 Hospital as part of their routine national oversight visits aimed at monitoring health service delivery and infrastructure development across counties.
During the inspection, the senators toured the outpatient, maternity, pharmacy, radiology, drug stores, and wards, engaging directly with healthcare staff and patients. The committee also reviewed newly installed medical equipment and modern ICT systems enhancing efficiency in patient care.
The visit comes as Governor Kimani Wamatangi’s administration continues to expand healthcare infrastructure in the county. So far, six Level 4 hospitals and twenty-six Level 3 hospitals have been constructed, with an additional twenty-eight dispensaries upgraded to window dispensing facilities, a move aimed at bringing essential healthcare closer to communities.
The Senate team lauded the ongoing improvements, noting that Kiambu’s investment in medical facilities reflects a strong commitment to accessible, quality, and affordable healthcare for all residents.
