Kenya Met lists Nairobi, Kiambu, Kisumu and Nakuru among regions to receive moderate to heavy weekend rains

The Kenya Meteorological Department has issued a weekend weather advisory listing Nairobi, Kiambu, Kisumu, Nakuru and several Rift Valley counties among areas expected to receive sustained rainfall over the next five days.

According to the update released Friday, November 14, regions in the Highlands East including Kiambu, Nyandarua, Nyeri, Murang’a, Embu, Meru and Tharaka Nithi will experience mid-morning showers, brief sunny intervals and more rain in the afternoon and evening.

Heavier downpours accompanied by thunderstorms are expected in Rift Valley and Lake Victoria Basin counties such as Kisumu, Siaya, Kakamega, Nakuru, Uasin Gishu, Bomet, Kericho and Trans Nzoia. Light rains are also forecasted in Kitui, Machakos, Makueni, Kajiado and Taita Taveta.

Kenya Met has also warned of cold nights in Highland East counties, with temperatures dropping to 5°C, while coastal regions Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu, Kwale and parts of Tana River will experience scorching daytime highs of up to 33°C.
