Kenya’s ambitious Talanta Sports City Stadium is now 66 percent complete, with core infrastructure on track for delivery, signaling a major boost to the nation’s sports development agenda.
Cabinet Secretary for Youth Affairs, Sports and the Creative Economy Salim Mvurya said the project is progressing well after a joint inspection on Friday, November 14, alongside Defense PS Patrick Mariru, Sports PS Elijah Mwangi, Sports Kenya officials, and contractors.
“By the end of December, external works and physical infrastructure will be complete,” Mvurya said. He added that the stadium, featuring 54 skyboxes, three training grounds, and world-class facilities, is part of a larger Talanta Sports City masterplan including roads, water supply, power, and railway links.
Currently, 1,500 workers, 85 percent Kenyans, are on site. The CS emphasized the project will create local employment, boost businesses, and attract international sports events once operational. Weekly technical reviews are in place to ensure timelines and quality standards are strictly adhered to.
