Hundreds of young people in Ruiru are set to benefit from an online job initiative funded by the government through the Jitume Digital Empowerment Program.
In a collaborative effort between the Office of Ruiru MP Simon King’ara and eMobilis, a FREE five-day online training and mentorship program has been launched at the Jitume ICT Hub Ruiru, serving as the cornerstone of a larger vision to replicate its success model across all eight wards of the Ruiru constituency.
Acknowledging the challenges of securing formal employment, the MP urged young people from Ruiru to embrace the idea and enroll in the free Jitume training program.
“This training is crucial to address youth unemployment in our community,” said MP King’ara during the commencement of the training. “By equipping young people with these in-demand skills, we’re empowering them to access the opportunities of the Freelancing & Digital Economy and build a brighter future.”
Participants welcomed the initiative, citing its potential to open new avenues for utilizing the internet productively. They also urged the government to bolster connectivity in both urban and rural areas.
The five-day program offers a comprehensive curriculum, combining both basic and cross-cutting modules. Basic modules will delve into practical skills like Content Writing and Virtual Assistance, while cross-cutting modules will provide a strong foundation with topics such as:
- Introduction to Digital & Digitally Enabled Work
- Personal Digital Profile Creation
- Online Work Safety & Data Protection
- Soft Skills
Following the training, participants will benefit from an additional four weeks of virtual mentorship, solidifying their learnings and ensuring they feel confident entering the digital workforce.
This program is a fantastic opportunity for young people in Ruiru to take charge of their careers and thrive in the ever-evolving digital landscape.
