Police officers from Buruburu and Dandora Stations have recovered 135 suspected stolen motor vehicle number plates in Kariobangi South, Nairobi, following a targeted crackdown.
In a statement on December 6, 2025, the National Police Service (NPS) said the raid followed credible information from the public that a residential house was being used to manufacture and store fake vehicle registration plates.
Officers seized 34 complete plates, 67 incomplete (mixed front and rear) plates, 34 half-cut plates, three rolls of chassis number stickers, iron sheeting, reflective sheets, and numerous number plate frames.
The key suspect connected to the premises escaped but is being actively pursued. All recovered items have been secured for identification and forensic analysis. The NPS commended public vigilance for aiding the operation and reiterated its commitment to fighting vehicle-related crime, including number plate falsification and the trafficking of stolen vehicle parts.
