Kiambu County today joined farmers, partners and local residents at Waruhiu Agricultural Training Centre to commemorate World Soil Day 2025, underscoring the critical role soil health plays in the county’s food systems and growing urban centres.

This year’s theme, “Healthy Soils for Healthy Cities,” highlighted how strong, productive soils support nutritious food, sustainable livelihoods and climate-resilient communities. County officials emphasized that protecting soil resources is essential for securing Kiambu’s agricultural future.

The event brought together partners including the Institute for Food Justice and Development, ISFAA, Pelum Kenya, G-Black and other organisations working alongside the county to promote sustainable land management.

Officials reiterated Kiambu’s commitment to empowering farmers, improving conservation practices and safeguarding the natural resources that sustain households across all sub-counties.
