Former Chief Justice and United Green Movement (UGM) presidential candidate David Maraga has called on President William Ruto to publicly release the agreement signed between the Kenyan government and the United States.
Speaking at Jumuia Conference Centre in Limuru, Maraga warned that the ongoing commercialisation of government institutions could compromise transparency and accountability in the country. He said investigations are underway to uncover hidden government businesses conducted without public knowledge.
Maraga noted that while Kenyans broadly support development initiatives such as the Rironi Mau Summit Road and SHA, the methods employed by the government in executing these projects have drawn criticism. He emphasised that openness, public scrutiny, and accountability must accompany economic growth to ensure that citizens fully benefit from government development efforts.
The former CJ urged the government to ensure all agreements and projects are conducted transparently, warning that secretive deals risk eroding public trust and may hinder the nation’s progress.
