Kiambu County launches three-day municipal board training to boost governance, oversight, and effective service delivery

Kiambu County has commenced a three-day capacity-building training program for Municipal Board Members, aimed at enhancing their ability to oversee, govern, and strategically guide local municipal operations. The event, hosted at the Ruiru Municipal Manager’s Boardroom, is part of a countywide initiative to strengthen governance systems and improve service delivery.

Participants are gaining practical skills in municipal partnership and private sector engagement, governance and leadership, physical and land use planning, project management, revenue mobilization, human resource management, and citizen engagement.

The program features sessions on municipal partnerships and private sector collaboration, led by Dr. Samuel Gichere of the State Department for Housing and Urban Development, and governance, leadership, and decision-making in the public sector, facilitated by Ms. Jacinta Michuki of Tehilla Coaching Ltd.

The County Government of Kiambu emphasizes that well-equipped Municipal Boards are central to accountable, efficient, and responsive local governance, ensuring that residents benefit from effective service delivery.
