Bamburi Cement and SINOMA-CBMI sign Ksh32 Billion deal to build Clinker Plant boosting industry and infrastructure

Kenya’s drive towards rapid national development has received a boost following the signing of a Sh32 billion investment agreement between Bamburi Cement PLC and SINOMA-CBMI Construction Co. Ltd.

The two firms will jointly develop a new clinker production line in Matuga, Kwale County, a project described as critical to strengthening the country’s industrial base. The investment aligns with the government’s Sh5 trillion development agenda, which prioritizes strategic public and private sector partnerships.

The clinker plant is expected to support key national infrastructure programs, including the Affordable Housing Program, by ensuring a steady supply of essential construction materials.

Beyond infrastructure, the project is projected to create employment opportunities for young people, stimulate local supply chains and boost enterprise growth in the Coast region. Officials say anchoring manufacturing at the Coast will promote balanced regional industrialization and contribute to long-term economic growth.

The contract signing ceremony was held in Nairobi.
