Kabete Detectives Arrest Notorious Housebreakers in Multi-County Crackdown

Kabete detectives, working alongside the DCI Headquarters’ Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau (CRIB), have pulled off a major arrest, apprehending two suspects believed to be responsible for a string of housebreakings across Kiambu and Nairobi Counties.

Lavender Akinyi Ogillo (37) and Vincent Odhiambo Otieno (27) were arrested in connection with break-ins that occurred on April 1st and 19th, 2024.

The first incident targeted a house in the affluent Kitisuru Terraces, where the suspects gained entry by removing a kitchen window pane and bypassing the lock. Electronics, valuables, and artwork were among the stolen items.

The second burglary involved a six-person crew who broke into an apartment at Oak Valley Apartments on Mvuli Road in Kileleshwa.

Though they managed to steal cash before fleeing, the homeowner returned home unexpectedly and witnessed their escape in a white vehicle with registration number KDG 305C.

Following a relentless investigation, detectives tracked down the suspects. Lavender Akinyi was apprehended at her Kiamumbi residence, while Vincent Odhiambo was caught at a location in Kasarani.

A black Mercedes Benz believed to be used in their criminal activities has also been seized.

Both suspects are no strangers to law enforcement. They were previously part of a six-member gang arrested for a violent robbery in May 2019 by Kilimani detectives.

Notably, Lavender Akinyi has outstanding warrants for skipping court hearings and violating bail terms.
