A postmortem examination has confirmed that former Cabinet minister and Lugari MP Cyrus Jirongo died from severe chest injuries sustained in a road accident in Naivasha.
Government pathologist Johansen Oduor, working alongside family-appointed doctors, said the injuries resulted from blunt force trauma following the collision. The autopsy was conducted on Wednesday at Lee Funeral Home in Nairobi.
Pathologists established that Jirongo suffered extensive chest and abdominal injuries, alongside multiple fractures to his limbs. Family physician Dr Martin Wanyoike said the injuries were fatal and left no chance of survival.
Meanwhile, detectives are continuing investigations into the crash. The Directorate of Criminal Investigations has obtained CCTV footage from a nearby petrol station and re-summoned the driver of a bus involved in the incident as inquiries continue.
