Autopsy Reveals Albert Ojwang’s Cause of Death

The autopsy of Albert Ojwang, a social media influencer and teacher, has revealed shocking details about his death while in police custody. Conducted at City Mortuary on June 10, 2025, the postmortem findings contradict the initial police report, which suggested that Ojwang had died from self-inflicted injuries.

The autopsy, led by Dr. Bernard Midia, uncovered head injuries, neck compression, and multiple soft tissue trauma. These injuries were externally inflicted, ruling out the possibility of suicide. According to the pathologists, the wounds were consistent with assault, indicating that Ojwang was subjected to physical violence before his death.

Additionally, forensic experts observed signs of struggle, further discrediting the police’s claim that Ojwang had hit his head against a cell wall. The presence of defensive wounds on his hands and back suggests that he attempted to resist his attackers.

The National Police Service (NPS) initially reported that Ojwang had suffered fatal injuries after knocking his head against the wall of his cell at Central Police Station. However, the autopsy findings contradict this narrative, raising concerns about possible foul play.

Ojwang was arrested on June 7, 2025, in Homa Bay and transported to Nairobi for questioning. He was booked at Central Police Station under allegations of false publication. His sudden death in custody has sparked outrage among human rights organizations and the public.

Following the autopsy, Law Society of Kenya (LSK) President Faith Odhiambo described Ojwang’s death as torture and extrajudicial execution. She demanded accountability from law enforcement agencies and urged the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) to conduct a thorough investigation.

Ojwang’s family, activists, and political leaders have intensified calls for justice. Homa Bay Town MP Peter Kaluma has insisted that the individual responsible for ordering Ojwang’s arrest must be held accountable.

Authorities have pledged to investigate the circumstances surrounding Ojwang’s death, with IPOA leading the probe. Meanwhile, civil rights groups continue to demand transparency and justice for the slain influencer.

As the investigation unfolds, the public awaits answers on who was responsible for Ojwang’s death and whether justice will be served. His tragic demise has reignited debates on police brutality and accountability in Kenya.
