Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has accused Kileleshwa MCA Robert Alai of assaulting him with a firearm during an altercation at a Kilimani restaurant in Nairobi.
In a statement issued on Sunday, Owino said the incident occurred along Lenana Road after he attended a meeting with a senior clergyman. He claimed the confrontation began when he briefly greeted acquaintances seated at a nearby table, including Alai.
According to the MP, Alai accused him of being behind alleged online attacks targeting his family, claims Owino strongly denied. He alleged the situation escalated when Alai became aggressive, pushed him, brandished a pistol and struck him in full view of other patrons.
Owino further claimed that after the initial confrontation, Alai poured water on him, drawing attention from other customers. He said he left the premises to avoid further escalation and reported the matter at Kilimani Police Station.
The MP described the incident as a serious threat to his life and called on authorities to investigate, linking it to what he termed a pattern of political harassment.
