Chaos in Narok as police teargas DCP leader Gachagua during campaign rally ahead of November 27 by-elections

Chaos erupted in Narok town on Monday, November 24, as Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua was teargassed by police while campaigning for MCA aspirant Douglas Masikonde.

Reports indicated that police had set up heavy security roadblocks to prevent Gachagua from entering the town. Undeterred, the former Deputy President wore a black helmet and pushed through the barricades, determined to address his supporters.

Barely five minutes into his speech, police fired teargas canisters toward the crowd and Gachagua’s convoy, forcing them to retreat for safety. Residents had gathered chanting anti-government slogans, adding to the tense atmosphere.

Gachagua’s campaign in Narok came on the final day of the November 27 by-election campaigns. Supporters condemned the police intervention, calling it an attempt to intimidate voters and undermine the democratic process. The incident highlights heightened tensions in Narok as candidates push for voter support ahead of the elections.
