County Police Commanders, ORPP join forces in Lower Kabete to guarantee peaceful November 24 by-elections

Nineteen County Police Commanders (CPCs) have partnered with the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties (ORPP) to strengthen coordination ahead of the upcoming by-elections slated for November 24, 2025.

The leaders met at the Kenya School of Government in Lower Kabete for a consultative forum aimed at promoting peace, security, and political accountability during the electoral period. The engagement was supported by The Oslo Centre, a non-profit organization that advocates for democracy and good governance.

Speaking during the meeting, Police Spokesperson and Director of Corporate Communication, Assistant Inspector General (AIG) Muchiri Nyaga, who represented the Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja, lauded the collaboration as vital in fostering peaceful political processes.

“I encourage all County Commanders to familiarize themselves with the mandate of the ORPP. There is a collaborative duty to ensure that political parties operate within the confines of the law,” Nyaga said.

He emphasized that maintaining law and order was key to averting electoral violence, urging officers to remain vigilant and proactive throughout the by-election period.

On his part, Deputy Registrar of Political Parties for Compliance and Regulations, Mr. Ali Abdullahi Surraw, who represented the ORPP Chief Executive Officer, commended the National Police Service for its professionalism and dedication.

“Security personnel are not just peacekeepers they are custodians of democracy. Their vigilance ensures that political competition unfolds in a stable and lawful environment,” said Surraw.

He further called on officers to uphold fairness and protect citizens’ rights as Kenyans prepare to elect leaders in 24 upcoming by-elections across the country.

The Oslo Centre Country Director, Ms. Phoebe Mungai, joined other officials including ORPP’s Daniel Kinuthia and Beatrice Nderi in reaffirming the importance of partnerships between security and political institutions in nurturing democratic governance.

The meeting concluded with a commitment to enhance coordination across agencies to ensure peaceful, credible, and transparent elections.

  1. Definitely believe that which you said. Your favorite justification seemed to be on the internet the easiest thing to be aware of. I say to you, I definitely get irked while people consider worries that they just don’t know about. You managed to hit the nail upon the top and defined out the whole thing without having side effect , people could take a signal. Will likely be back to get more. Thanks
