Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Director Mohamed Amin has issued a stern warning to police officers found protecting or facilitating drug cartels, saying they will be held fully accountable under the law.
Speaking during a security assessment tour of Marsabit County, Amin said the fight against drug trafficking would target not only sellers and traffickers but also law enforcement officers who collude with criminal networks.
During the visit, the DCI boss inspected the Anti-Stock Theft Unit camp at Gas in North Horr Sub-County and held discussions with officers on local security challenges.
Amin later engaged residents, elders, religious leaders and youth representatives at Galasa Jamia Mosque, urging closer cooperation between communities and security agencies. He emphasised that intelligence sharing and public trust remain key pillars in tackling crime and drug abuse.
His remarks echoed President William Ruto’s recent directive to intensify operations against drug networks, with Amin affirming that no individual, including those within law enforcement, is above the law.
