DCI Joins Forces with Kiambu Police to Plant Over 1,200 Trees

Today, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) joined hands with the Kiambu County Police Headquarters in a significant tree planting exercise. Over 1,200 trees were planted across various locations, including Kiambu Police Station, Kiambu Primary School, and Kirigiti Girls Reception and Rehabilitation School.

This initiative aligns with the government’s ambitious goal of planting 15 billion trees by 2032 and aims to enhance the region’s green cover. By combating climate change and improving environmental sustainability, the DCI hopes to contribute to a greener future for Kenya.

Heads of Directorates at the DCI led their teams in the tree planting exercise, adding to the institution’s impressive record of over 17,000 trees planted since the initiative’s launch by President William Ruto.

Speaking through his representative, Mr. Baraza Walumoli, AIG, Director of the DCI, Mr. Mohamed Amin emphasized the importance of not only planting trees but also nurturing them to maturity. He highlighted the numerous benefits of increasing Kenya’s forest cover, including improved air quality, soil conservation, and biodiversity preservation.

Dr. Philip Ouma, Head of Reforms, Research, and Innovation Development at the DCI, has been tasked with ensuring the long-term sustainability of the tree-growing initiative, ensuring its long-term success.
