Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) rescued a three-year-old boy after arresting two suspected traffickers in Nyeri County. The child had been abducted from his home in Ruiru, Kiambu County, prompting an urgent search.
His parents reported the disappearance at the Ruiru Police Station. Acting fast, DCI officers launched a nationwide manhunt, using intelligence reports to track the suspects. Their investigation led them to a house in Tetu, Nyeri County, where they found the child with two men.
Police arrested both suspects on the spot. They took the boy to a hospital for a medical checkup before reuniting him with his family. Authorities suspect the two men may be linked to larger trafficking networks and vowed to dismantle such operations.
“This rescue brings relief to the family as the child undergoes medical examination before the reunion,” said the DCI.
Child trafficking cases continue to rise in Kenya. The Anti-Human Trafficking and Child Protection Unit warns that criminals are increasingly targeting minors. Law enforcement agencies have intensified efforts to crack down on these syndicates.
