Employer from Juja arrested for attempted murder.

Police officers from Kiambu are investigating Lavender Ogilo from Juja for attempted murder after a house help she had employed fell from the 4th floor at Jumuila Heights. Shanny Atieno, a 22-year-old girl whom Ogilo had employed for less than 2 months, is said to have jumped from the house in a bid to seek help from physical and sexual harassment she was receiving from her employer.

Atieno, who is in critical condition at Kenyatta National Hospital, was found helpless, lying in the basement of the apartment on Monday. “Our kin has broken spinal cord and leg. She also has had other abuses all over her body,” said a family member.

The house help says she has been enduring physical and sexual harassment from her employer for the two months she has been working in that house. “She has been beating me for the last two months with all sorts of items she comes across in the kitchen,” said Atieno in pain. The house help says Ogilo stabbed her with a knife on the fateful day.

Atieno says her employer has been threatening to kill her since there is nowhere she can be taken. Medical reports from Radiant Hospital show that Atieno has been admitted to the hospital for a series of physical injuries. On November 4, Atieno was admitted to the same hospital with head injuries. The cases have been persistent until Monday 4th when she jumped.

Ogilo recorded a statement on Monday and is on the investigation. Police records show Ogilo has had a series of criminal cases from 2011 to 2024.

“We are appealing to the government to hasten this investigation because I do not belive our kin fell from 4th floor because of stress,” said a family member.
