Shock and grief have engulfed Gituamba Village in Waguthu, Kiambu Sub-County, after a heated argument between two cousins over a football match turned fatal.
The incident occurred on Sunday evening during a clash between Manchester United and Chelsea, when an altercation escalated, leading to the stabbing of Matthias by his cousin, Mbugua.
Witnesses said the two had earlier been drinking alleged illicit liquor at a local joint before the confrontation turned violent around 6 p.m.
Family members described the incident as deeply tragic, noting the men were close relatives. They added that Mbugua had displayed unusual behaviour earlier in the day, including damaging his mother’s banana plants.
