Former Lugari Member of Parliament Enoch Kibunguchy has died after a prolonged illness while undergoing treatment at an Eldoret hospital.
Kibunguchy, 72, served in Parliament for nearly two decades, first representing Lugari Constituency between 2003 and 2007 before later serving two consecutive terms as Likuyani MP from 2013 to 2022. He succeeded the late Cyrus Jirongo during his initial stint in Parliament.
Throughout his political career, Kibunguchy was affiliated with several parties, including FORD-Kenya, ODM and, most recently, the Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K), which he joined earlier this year.
Beyond politics, he built a distinguished career in public health, serving as an Assistant Director of Medical Services and holding senior positions at Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital and Coast General Hospital.
Current Lugari MP Nabii Nabwera described him as a calm and thoughtful leader whose guidance extended beyond politics.
