Former Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu has declared his readiness to work with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, despite their past political clashes.
Speaking in an interview on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, Wambugu explained that his fallout with Gachagua was based on principles and political strategy rather than personal hostility.
“I can work with absolutely anything, because even my differences with Gachagua are not personal. They are based on principle,” Wambugu said.
He clarified that their earlier disagreements emerged when Gachagua shifted from the structured office of Deputy President into active politics, which, according to him, conflicted with his own political path.
Wambugu stressed that political disagreements should never block collaboration, noting that pragmatic partnerships ahead of the 2027 elections were more important than personal rivalries.
He also dismissed rigid political labels and urged flexibility across the opposition spectrum, saying leaders such as Kalonzo Musyoka, Eugene Wamalwa, and Raila Odinga all had roles to play.
“Criticism does not preclude cooperation,” he said, adding that principled alliances could still emerge even among former critics.
