Former Tetu MP Francis Thombe Nyammo passes away at 86

Former Tetu MP Francis Thombe Nyammo has passed away at the age of 86.

Confirming the news on Monday, September 29, National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula eulogized Nyammo as a leader remembered for his “distinguished service, leadership, and commitment to community welfare.”

Nyammo, who died on Sunday morning, coincidentally on his 86th birthday, was widely known as “FT,” short for “Fun Times.” Within Nairobi’s Rotary circles, he was celebrated as a warm, joyful, and generous personality.

Rotary leaders mourned him as more than a member, describing him as a “pillar of strength, a true gentleman whose laughter and wisdom lit up every room.”

Nyammo represented Tetu Constituency between 2008 and 2013, having been elected under the Party of National Unity (PNU) ticket. Beyond politics, he left a notable mark in the private sector as the chair of Longhorn Publishers and a founding member of the Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA).

The cause of his death had not been disclosed at the time of publication.
