Lorna Muthoni, head of the Kiambaa Constituency Development Funds (CDF), is facing a court petition calling for her removal from office.
The petition, filed by Richard Mulwa Musyoka, Richard Nzine, Nicholas Michael, and Elizabeth Mumbi, alleges that Muthoni is unfit to serve due to accusations of nepotism.
The petitioners claim that Muthoni’s actions bring her office into “contempt, disrepute because of abuse of public office and public trust.”
They further allege she has shown favoritism in her work, but no action has been taken against her by relevant authorities.
Muthoni, however, is contesting the petition. Through her lawyer, she argues the court lacks jurisdiction and that the petition is premature.
She claims it’s a smear campaign orchestrated by her estranged husband, as indicated in witness statements filed with the court. Muthoni is seeking dismissal of the petition.
Justice Byrum Ongaya has directed that the case be mentioned in May for further instructions.
