Residents of Gatundu North have welcomed the operationalisation of the Kamwangi Land Registry, a move that ends years of travelling long distances to access basic land services.
The facility was opened following a directive by President William Ruto to the Ministry of Lands, bringing services closer to wananchi who previously relied on far-off registries at high cost and inconvenience.
For years, landowners endured long queues, lost time and expensive transport while seeking services such as land searches, transfers and documentation.
With the transfer of land files from Gatundu Land Registry, the new office is expected to offer faster, affordable and efficient services, while easing pressure on neighbouring registries.
Gatundu North MP Njoroge Kururia said the registry will especially benefit residents from areas such as Mataara and Gakoe, strengthening land administration and supporting local economic activity.
