Githunguri Member of Parliament Gathoni Wamuchomba has accused former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua of political intimidation, alleging sustained pressure to force her out of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
In a statement issued on Monday, January 5, Wamuchomba claimed Gachagua had repeatedly coerced her to abandon UDA and join the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP), saying the tactics included intimidation and public attacks.
The MP further alleged that Nyandarua Senator John Methu and Kiambu Senator Karungo wa Thang’wa were being used to pressure Mt Kenya leaders who have declined to defect to the opposition party.
Wamuchomba insisted she would not bow to pressure, maintaining that she will remain in UDA until 2027. She added that this was not the first time she had faced political threats, recalling similar experiences after opposing the Finance Bill in 2023.
