"My life is in danger," Gathoni Wamuchomba says as her security got dismissed

Moments after Gathoni Wamuchomba honored a summon by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Monday, April 7, 2025, she made serious allegations against the government claiming that her security had been dismissed and accused the government of hiring mercenaries to intimidate her.

The outspoken MP, known for her critical stance against the administration, alleged that politicians had hired mercenaries to intimidate, abduct, or harm her. “Politicians have hired mercenaries to intimidate, kill, and abduct. My life is in danger. If anything happens to me, we know who is responsible,” she declared, her voice resolute yet concerned.

Wamuchomba also revealed receiving suspicious calls from unknown contacts. When she sought clarification from Kiambu County Police Commander Doris Mugambi, she learned the calls were not linked to the police. This, she argued, showed a deliberate effort to undermine her security and create fear.

Additionally, the MP accused the government of arranging a campaign to frustrate her and her staff. She claimed several government offices were complicit, making it harder for her to perform her duties. “The government is plotting to frustrate me. They are even frustrating my staff,” she lamented.

In a pointed evaluation, Wamuchomba alleged her security was dismissed due to gender bias. She argued that her predecessor had also neglected security concerns for women leaders. “The government does not respect women. If they did, they would have given me 10 bodyguards,” she stated, highlighting the challenges women in leadership face.
