Githunguri MP Gathoni Wamuchomba has urged Kenya’s Generation Z to take their growing influence into the political arena as the country approaches the 2027 general elections.
On Jamhuri Day, December 12, 2025, Wamuchomba shared her message via X, expressing her support as part of the Gen Z “cheering squad.” She called on young Kenyans to “Occupy the elections” and use their creativity and innovation to build generational wealth and prosperity, describing this as the path to true independence.
The MP highlighted the cultural and professional shifts driven by young people, from schools where teachers engage students with modern fashion and slang, to disciplined forces adopting digital tools and embracing youthful energy. She noted the dynamic role of Gen Z in hospitals, technology, design, and environmental activism, praising their innovative approaches to problem-solving and societal contribution.
Wamuchomba’s message resonated alongside nationwide Jamhuri Day celebrations at Nyayo National Stadium, themed “Tourism, Wildlife & MICE,” attended by President William Ruto and Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama.
She emphasised that youth participation is critical not only for politics but also for shaping institutions, professional sectors, and cultural trends across Kenya.
