The government has intensified efforts to operationalize the Githunguri Level 5 Hospital, aiming for a timely handover to the Kiambu County Government. This initiative is part of a broader commitment to enhance healthcare access in the region..
Principal Secretary for the State Department for Medical Services, Mr. Harry Kimtai, along with Principal Secretary for Defense, Dr. Patrick Mariru, and Githunguri MP Gathoni Wamuchomba, yesterday conducted a site visit to evaluate the hospital’s progress.
During the visit, the team engaged in discussions with Kiambu County officials to finalize the hospital’s timeline and deliverables.
The 350-bed facility, once completed, is expected to significantly alleviate the patient load on Kiambu Level 5 Hospital and offer specialized healthcare services to residents of Kiambu and neighboring counties.
PS Mariru expressed optimism about the project’s advancement, highlighting the government’s dedication to improving healthcare infrastructure. “We are committed to ensuring that the Githunguri Level 5 Hospital becomes operational as soon as possible,” he stated. The construction is being supervised by the Ministry of Defense to ensure adherence to quality and timelines.
Also present during the site visit were Kiambu County Commissioner Mr. Duncan Darusi and other local officials.
