Government moves to acquire land for Ndekere–Kwa Macharia–Cuninki road in Kiambu

The National Land Commission (NLC) has begun the process of acquiring land in Kiambu County to pave the way for the construction of the Ndekere–Kwa Macharia–Cuninki Road.

In a Gazette Notice dated August 8, the commission confirmed that the acquisition will be carried out under Part VIII of the Land Act, on behalf of the Kiambu County Government.

The targeted parcels, located in Ndurugu Ndurugu/Gacharage, measure a total of 0.217 hectares and are registered under both private and public ownership.

“In pursuance of the Land Act, Part VIII, the National Land Commission, on behalf of the County Government of Kiambu, gives notice that the County Government intends to acquire the parcels of land listed below for the construction of the Ndekere–Kwa Macharia–Cuninki Road Project–Kiambu County,” NLC stated.

The commission has called on all affected landowners to visit its offices in Nairobi or the County Coordinator’s office in Kiambu to inspect the project plans and obtain more details.

“Plans for the affected land may be inspected during office hours at the National Land Commission’s office at Ardhi House, 3rd Floor, Room 305, 1st Ngong Avenue, Nairobi, and at the National Land Commission’s County Co-ordinator’s Office in Kiambu County,” the notice reads.

This announcement comes just a week after the NLC revealed plans to acquire more land in the county for other road projects, including the Gatundu–Karinga–Flyover Road and the refurbishment of the International School of Kenya–Gathiga Road.

For compensation claims, affected individuals must submit a written request alongside a copy of their ID, PIN, land ownership documents, and bank account details. Companies with ownership interests must also provide certificates of incorporation, CR12 forms, KRA PINs, and ID documents for directors.
