Governor Wamatangi states Ndururumo-Ndarasha Level Three Hospital taking shape

The Ndururumo-Ndarasha Level Three Hospital in Theta Ward, Juja Sub-County, has taken shape, marking a significant milestone in efforts to improve healthcare access in the area.

For years, residents have been forced to travel to Thika and Ruiru hospitals to seek treatment, often incurring high transport costs and facing long queues due to congestion in the referral facilities. Expectant mothers, children, and patients requiring urgent care have been among the most affected. The new hospital is expected to ease this pressure once operational and bring essential services closer to the community.

The facility will feature both an outpatient and inpatient wing, including a 16-bed maternity unit, a general ward, a pediatric ward, a laboratory, and a fully equipped theatre. County health officials say the hospital will play a critical role in improving maternal and child health services, handling routine and emergency cases, and strengthening primary healthcare delivery within Juja and surrounding areas.

Beyond improving access to medical services, the hospital is also expected to create employment opportunities for healthcare professionals, support staff, and administrative workers from within the county. Local leaders believe the facility will stimulate economic activity in the area as demand for housing, retail services, and transport grows around the institution.

Governor Kimani Wamatangi described the project as a key pillar of his administration’s commitment to expanding healthcare infrastructure and delivering quality services at the grassroots level. He said the county government remains focused on decongesting major hospitals by upgrading and constructing new facilities closer to where people live.

According to county officials, the hospital is part of a broader strategy aimed at strengthening the county’s health system through infrastructure expansion, improved equipment supply, and increased staffing. The move aligns with ongoing efforts to enhance service delivery and ensure residents can access affordable, reliable, and timely medical care.

Once fully equipped and operational, the Ndururumo-Ndarasha Level Three Hospital is expected to transform healthcare access in Theta Ward and the larger Juja Sub-County, reducing travel time for patients and improving overall health outcomes across the region.
