The Head of Public Service, Felix Koskei, has downplayed claims that the Mt Kenya region is being sidelined in the government’s development agenda, insisting that all regions are receiving equal attention.
Speaking on Sunday, September 28, during a service at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Mweiga, Kieni Constituency, Koskei said the government values Mt Kenya’s contribution to President William Ruto’s administration and cannot abandon the region.
“There is no truth in the claims that this region has been forgotten. Development is being implemented equally across the country,” Koskei said.
His remarks come amid growing discontent from some Mt Kenya leaders following the exit of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua. A recent TIFA survey also showed that 83 per cent of Mt Kenya residents now identify with the opposition, with critics linking the shift to Gachagua’s ouster.
Koskei, accompanied by eight Principal Secretaries including Alex Wachira (Energy), Ann Wang’ombe (Gender), and Raymond Omollo (Interior), dismissed allegations of discrimination as baseless.
PS Omollo echoed the same, assuring that no region would be left out of national development programs.
“All parts of this country are receiving the same level of government services. No region will be left behind,” Omollo said.
