Jalang’o declares bid for Nairobi Senate, sets up 2027 clash with Edwin Sifuna

Lang’ata Member of Parliament Phelix Odiwuor, popularly known as Jalang’o, has announced plans to contest the Nairobi Senate seat in the 2027 General Election.

Speaking during a radio interview on Tuesday, the ODM lawmaker confirmed he will challenge incumbent Senator and ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna, marking a significant political shift ahead of the polls.

The declaration follows weeks of speculation sparked by Jalang’o’s recent public engagements alongside Lands Principal Secretary Nixon Korir and South C MCA Abass Khalif, who has declared interest in the Lang’ata parliamentary seat.

Jalang’o said his experience and understanding of Nairobi’s challenges qualify him to represent residents at the Senate. His entry is expected to reshape Nairobi’s political landscape amid ongoing internal tensions within the ODM party.
