A family in Ndaraca village has made a desperate appeal to well-wishers and education sponsors to help their son, Samuel Githuku Kinyanjui, resume his studies after a string of misfortunes forced him out of school and into hopelessness.
Samuel, a bright student who excelled in his Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams, had his dreams of becoming an aeronautical engineer come to an abrupt halt due to financial constraints.
After completing high school, he stayed at home for over a year, unsure of his future, until well-meaning villagers came together and raised funds to help him enroll at the East Africa School of Aviation.
His hope was however short-lived.
Just as he was settling into his studies, tragedy struck his family after a fire gutted their home, killing one of his younger siblings and seriously injuring another.
The family lost everything, and with the burden of medical bills and starting over, they could no longer support Githuku’s education.
Left with no option, he was forced to defer his studies.
Since then, Samuel has been battling deep emotional turmoil, often expressing guilt and hopelessness over being left behind as his peers continue with their education.
According to his parents and neighbors, he has had several suicidal episodes, stemming from the pressure and despair of dropping out despite his potential.
His parents, who rely on menial jobs for survival, have knocked on all doors from local government bursaries to national funds but have received little help.
Despite his circumstances, they describe their son as a hardworking, respectful, and determined young man who deserves a second chance.
The family is appealing to well-wishers, charitable organizations, and individuals willing to contribute to Githuku’s school fees or sponsor his education.
